Balinese Ethnic Accessories
In Bali, necklaces, bracelets, pendants, and earrings are sold as souvenirs. These accessories have always been a favorite for local and foreign tourists.
What makes it interesting? Balinese ethnic jewelry offers a variety of designs. The design can be very intricate in shapes, such as teardrop shapes or modern abstract designs. Interesting because these accessories are offered at pocket-friendly prices. No wonder the tourists who come to Bali will bring these accessories as mementos and later make them one of the Indonesian products that penetrate the world market.
Skaysa by Aisyah Abdullah is one of the manufacturers of this kind of accessory. Her business began in 1981, starting with her love for knick-knacks which she has started producing since high school in Yogyakarta.
Later on, Aisyah tries to enter the tourist market in Bali. At the time, the response was fantastic. The tourists buy her creations in large quantities to be re-sold abroad on a business-to-business (B2B) system. Skaysa accessories then managed to penetrate Perth, Sydney, Dubai, Jeddah, Paris, and Amsterdam.
Skaysa employs housewives in the Central Java area to empower the community in developing its business. Although her business was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Skaysa slowly began to rise and rebuild its market in Indonesia and abroad.
